digestion facility at the city of Wooster’s Water Pollution Control Plant. This first-of-its-kind project used advanced technology provided by Cleveland-based quasar energy group allowing the plant to transform from a traditional wastewater treatment plant to a modern water resource recovery facility.
“quasar energy’s innovative technology gives the city of Wooster a remarkable opportunity to reduce costs and expand capacity while recycling energy at the same time,” said Senator LaRose. “The city’s Water Pollution Plant is now better able use wastewater as a rich natural resource that can provide energy to itself and businesses in the area. I’m proud to see the strong partnership between quasar and the city result in both real savings and efficient use of resources for our community.”
The facility is now equipped with state-of-the-art equipment to provide the best and most efficient water treatment at the lowest costs possible, allowing the plant to process five times more water than was previously possible. Through the updated anaerobic digestion technology, the facility not only processes more water effectively, but also mitigates costs by creating excess energy that it can use itself or sell to local utilities.
